Assessment
Three written exam papers at the end of the A level course. Each paper is synoptic and may have content from all aspects of the course. The papers will also assess practical skills through questioning. Students will have covered 10 mandatory practicals throughout the 2 years. AS Level examination is also possible at the end of year 1. Two written exam papers cover the course content and practical skills.
Career Opportunities
All Biology based careers including medical, nursing, biochemistry and pharmacology. Also laboratory-based careers, research and teaching.
Entry Requirements
Where students have studied separate sciences and they are expected to have achieved a grade 6 in Biology. If students have not studied separate sciences, they are expected to have achieved a grade 6 in Combined Science.
Students must demonstrate a capacity for independent study and a commitment to the course.
