The Level 3 qualification offers a practical introduction to Science and supports progression to further study or employment. Developed in collaboration with schools, colleges and higher education, it helps learners develop the fundamental scientific knowledge and practical skills valued by universities and employers.

- scientific principles associated with Biology, Chemistry and Physicsexperimental and practical techniques associated with Applied Science
- the roles and skills of scientists, and the public and media perception of science
- how the human body works
- scientific investigations.
Assessment
This qualification contains externally assessed and internally assessed units.
- Externally assessed Units (50%) are assessed by written examination.
- Internally assessed units (50%) are externally moderated by AQA.
Career Opportunities
This qualification is supported by a range of universities, and taken alongside other qualifications it can fulfil the entry requirements for a number of science-related higher education courses, including biomedical, forensic and sports science, as well as nursing. In addition, the qualification is eligible for UCAS points (ucas.com).
Entry Requirements
Grade 5 in all GCSE Separate Sciences or Grade 5 in Combined Science. Students must demonstrate a capacity for independent study and a commitment to the course.
